Impossible Foods appoints Chief Science Officer and Chief Supply Chain Officer to expand the executive team

November 16, 2023

Impossible Foods, founded in 2011, strives to positively impact people and the planet by creating delicious, nutritious plant-based meat with a significantly lower environmental footprint than traditional animal meat. The company, on a mission to combat climate change, employs a scientific approach to craft high-quality plant-based alternatives for every meal—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With products designed in California and produced in California and the Midwest, Impossible Foods aims to replicate the flavors, textures, and cooking characteristics meat eaters crave. The privately-held food company extends its reach to various countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Macau, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

In a recent announcement, Impossible Foods welcomed two experienced executives to its leadership team to oversee critical business functions. Sunil Chandran, a seasoned industrial biotechnology leader, assumes the role of Chief Science Officer at Impossible Foods, overseeing R&D and innovation. Chandran brings over 17 years of experience, having previously served as Chief Science Officer and Head of R&D at Amyris Inc., specializing in fermentation-derived ingredients.

Rob Haas, an accomplished supply chain leader, joins Impossible Foods as Chief Supply Chain Officer. With over 30 years of industry experience in the U.S., APAC, and Western Europe, Haas held leadership roles at Anheuser Busch InBev, including Global VP of Ingredients, Supply Chain, and CEO/President of Metal Container Corporation. His most recent position was Chief Supply Officer at EverGrain Ingredients, focusing on sustainable ingredient upcycling.

Peter McGuinness, President and CEO of Impossible Foods, commends Sunil and Rob as exceptional leaders capable of managing critical business functions at scale. Their expertise and genuine commitment to the company's mission align with the goal of success. McGuinness expresses excitement about the upcoming growth phase under their leadership.

These appointments follow a series of strategic executive hires by Impossible Foods in the past six months, reinforcing its commitment to building a robust leadership team. The additions include Chief Demand Officer Sherene Jagla and Chief Marketing and Creative Officer Leslie Sims, who recently launched impactful summer marketing campaigns to introduce consumers to the plant-based category and Impossible products.
